Abstract:

The article considers the biography of one of the officers of the Russian Imperial army, who became a «military specialist» of the Red Army on the basis of the new scientific facts. The author once again shows that in the Imperial army of the early XX century served a lot of offic-ers from the impoverished nobility, for which the actual military service was a priority over the struggle for the preservation of class privileges. Representatives of this part of the officers relatively easily joined the Red Army, considered service in it as dedication to the profession. Considered in the article the life of one of these officers was not quite typical in the sense that V. V. Tarkhov made a successful career in the red Army, not being a member of the CPSU(b), to avoid any repression for his noble and gold shoulder straps in the past.
