Abstract:

The article tells about aircraft designer Pavel Osipovich Sukhoy (1895—1975). His name is surrounded by legends, one contradictory than the other. For many, he remained unsolved, incomprehensible, which, however, often happens with truly gifted, talented people. Even among the outstanding aircraft designers, this person is an unusual, rare phenomenon, and it is completely unfair that we know so little about him.
