Abstract:

The article is devoted to the history of the emergence and functioning of memorial museums dedicated to the victims of National Socialist «euthanasia». The thesis is proved that the significance of the memorial museum includes not only preserving the memory of the victims and the process of memorialization, but also they reveal issues of medical ethics and social responsibility. On the basis of the study of works on this problem, the particularities of the theme development, the description of initiatives that promoted the emergence of museums, the issues of their institutionalization, and the principles of constructing exposition complexes of museums are highlighted. Memorial museums continue the process of working through the traumatic German past.
