Abstract:

In article the history of studying of the Economic notes which were formed during General land surveying in Russia is considered. Economic notes — a valuable historical source on social and economic history of the country. In the course of a land surveying unique statistical material about the amount of land tenure, the number of the population, development of the industry, agriculture, crafts and crafts has been built. These data were generalized in Economic notes (EN). The author analyzes works of such historians as Ya.V. Vodarsky, A.A. Gorsky, M.A. Kazarina, I.D. Kovalchenko, S.A. Kozlov, V.S. Kusov, L.V. Milov, B.N. Mironov, N.L. Rubenstein, Yu.A. Tikhonov, D.A. Chernenko and others. Economic notes are also fruitfully used long ago in domestic historical science. However its information opportunities aren´t exhausted yet.
