Abstract:

The system GULAG affected many regions of the Soviet state including the Komi ASSR. For regulation of the relations with prisoners and staff of ITL camp large-circulation newspapers were issued. Through them the management of camps sought to spread to the convict and the militarized protection the required behavior. The North Pechora labor camp was one of camps connected with construction of the railroad. In it since January, 1941 the Za Polyarnuyu Magistral newspaper was issued. In the large-circulation newspaper mass agitation work with workers of the camp was carried out, in it production work in ITL, socialist competitions was controlled, information on elections was often published.
