Abstract:

Based on the unique documentary and material sources stored in thе Tula State Arms Museum, the article provides a brief historical overview of the initial period of formation of the Tula weapons factory´s own design base for creating sports firearms. Special attention is paid to the work of the outstanding designer D.M. Kochetov, who should be considered the founder of the national sports weapon.
