Abstract:

The article is to consider the purpose the defensive operation in 1941 of Odessa. The success of the defense course is associated with the unity of the army and the civilian population, their unanimity in their desire not to let the enemy army into Odessa. This is related to the coordination of actions of artillery, aviation, ships of the USSR. During the defense of Odessa, landing operations were carried out with the participation of the marines, which showed its high efficiency in battles with the Nazis. In the southern direction, the Soviet troops were opposed by the troops of the Romanian allies of Germany, who asked for help from the command of the Wehrmacht, complaining about the "might of the Red Army" and the fierce opposition from the Soviets.
