Abstract:

The article analyzes the events of the beginning of the XX century, which are described in the historical novel of the English writer "Beryl Bainbridge "Happy birthday, friend!". The book is dedicated to the British expedition led by Robert Falcon Scott to the South Pole in 1910-1912. The dramatic circumstances that the travelers overcame are revealed. The courage and dedication of the entire team during the expedition is shown.
